heat

now and then, i think about that night

and the way your hands

wrapped around mine,

a delicate embrace,

as you pressed my palms down

against your stovetop burners.

i can still feel the heat

of your breath against the

side of my head as you told

me to feel the pain, promised

me that I would feel complete

sandwiched between the heat

of the stove, and your chest.

you pressed a kiss to my cheek

and walked away, leaving me

standing in your kitchen,

coils seared into my hands

and body marred where you

had touched your skin against

my own.
